Events - ​Monthly Wine Dinner - Please join us on Sunday February 28 for a wine pairing diner featuring the Italian region of Molise.  Italy’s youngest region and second smallest has been an independent region since 1963 and may well be one of the most beautiful parts of Italy with the added benefit of being trapped in a now mostly forgotten past. 

The advantage of being lesser-known is that Molise is often overlooked as a travel destination and therefore is thankfully free of the throngs of sweaty tourists found in other parts of Italy. Stretching from Termoli on the Adriatic coast all the way to the town of Venafro near Naples, Molise encompasses stunning beaches to the east, glorious mountain ranges in the north, south and west and some of the best Roman and pre-Roman archaeology in all of Italy. Perhaps best of all, the history and culture of the region is almost completely untouched – venture into Molise and you’re seeing an unadulterated slice of Italian country life.

Molisani cuisine is similarly rooted in history and tradition. It is the birthplace of Cavatelli and Fusilli pasta. Food here has its origins firmly in la cucina povera – the kitchen of the poor – and as such, you can expect hearty, comforting meals that revolve around more rustic ingredients, pastas with tomato based sauces, one-pot dishes, stews, lots of pork & lamb dishes and cheese from sheep’s milk such as pecorino & Caciocavallo. With seasonings such as fennel and pepperoncino along with their favorite chili pepper - il diavollino (little devil), this is truly delicious food.  

It will also feature delicious white wines made from Trebbiano & Bombino and delicious reds from Montepulciano, Sangiovese and Aglianico.
